Welcome to Prometheus Station

Deep Space 12, also known as Prometheus Station, is a Frontier-class starbase located in the Rigel system of the Alpha quadrant, tasked with securing Federation interests in orbit of Rigel V. Deep Space 12 is set in the post-DS9 era, comprised of an all-original character crew. As the Federation's primary diplomatic base of operations, Prometheus is a bustling community with over 30,000 crewmembers of both Starfleet and civilian origin and a city-sized population of around 400,000 total inhabitants. We incorporate the events of Star Trek XI, including the destruction of Romulus.

The current year is 2390. Stardates are written in the AOS format, year:dayoftheyear. Thus, September 10th, 2017 would be written as 2017:253. We are self-hosted and as such we are rated 18+ for scenes of graphic violence, nudity and adult language. Users must be over 18 to apply.

As the largest Federation station class, Prometheus has an attached escort called the USS Echo which is an Intrepid-class starship. This opens us up to do deep-space missions, scientific surveys and reconnaissance as well. All department heads are representative department heads on the Echo when it goes out.

CURRENT MISSION

This sim is set three years after the Hobus event. The Romulan Empire is currently in fractured pieces. The Romulans who are left are either: highly traumatized, or have joined loose coalitions and alliances to try and gather ships and find supplies. The remaining Romulans have fallen under Federation care, as Ambassador Spock's role in its destruction and the Vulcan Science Academy's initial lack of cooperation has made the Federation feel somewhat responsible for the survivors of the incident. As latent telepaths, the surviving Romulans experienced a telepathic shockwave crippling a significant minority of the population.

The Federation produced academic research that addressed the consequences of telepathic trauma & were on the front-lines to help get refugees to approved refugee zones. These Romulans are still in those refugee zones and it is a current crisis that continues to impact our political climate in-game. DS12 is the frontline and will be dealing with the ramifications of resettlement as a station built in the Rigelian sector, where many of these refugee zones are located. The closest one to DS12 is Refugee Zone 17 or RZ17.

The current climate aboard DS12 is that this is a station that's just been built in orbit around Rigel V. Rigel V has been in a fluctuating state of Federation membership since the Federation's inception due to some of their less-tolerated practices such as child marriage, major lack of infrastructure in certain areas, and xenophobic tendencies. Right now, Rigel V is in one of those flux-periods and DS12 was constructed as a diplomatic base of operations to help get Rigel V in shape.

Half the station is still being constructed (the Hub/Ops, Science, Medical, Engineering, Operations). The only actually fully functional areas of the station at the moment are the Habitat rings, where families and crewmembers live. Part of our pre-deployment endgame will be to get these facilities up and running before Starfleet officially considers the starbase active.

Prometheus Station is happy to be part of the 22nd Fleet in the Trek Division.

» The Kraken - Prometheus's Monthly Newsletter

july

Good morning Prometheans!

Welcome to the second edition of our monthly newsletter, The Kraken! This month saw the induction of two new players, ADAM and DAVE playing our Chief Science Officer and Chief Engineer respectively! We've also gathered up a ton of new NPCs on both Rigel V and RZ17 which offers a super exciting selection of different characters to interact with.

We've also started the milder subplots (this is a day without a trace of reason) which features the secretive Templar Order and the cagey CEO of Danmora Enterprises, as well as (Corazón), a personal plot between two characters that features a typhus outbreak on RZ17, and (Icarus), a personal plot between Callum and Alan centered around a series of crop failures on Talar Prime.

In addition to our wonderful several steps forward in writing a slew of incredible posts all in a short time (this sim has been only active for approximately two months!) we also have some cool out-of-character updates including: our SKIN DIRECTORY, an unlinked Pretorious leader and finally the Email-All Comments (EAC) MOD installation.

We are also in the process of developing the mission group THE LOOKING GLASS which contains the ALTERNATE UNIVERSE and BACKPOSTS missions, these will be where you can do AUs (any character, canons or original, any setting, any genre, any fandom, AUs have no limits at all, but you can't create AU character accounts so you'll have to just use your main account and write for the characters you want) and Backposts (all posts set at least a year behind our sim's current year) for the characters you've got on the sim. Backposts are CANON to the game, Alternate Universes are NOT.

This month has really been focused on writing and establishment which is always excellent to see from an administrative viewpoint, so everybody please keep it up. Last but not least, we are still looking for a couple of AWARDS moderators so if you'd be interested in helping out OOC please give me a shout on Discord or via PM.

There is one last piece of information I'd like to impart as our newsletter comes to a close and it's more of a reminder than anything else, but everybody please remember if your post only contains one character it should go in Personal Logs, not mission posts! Solo posts that feature more than one character can go into mission posts, though. The idea is that our mission posts population page should only feature posts that have more than one character, while "solo" posts (featuring only one character and/or NPCs) go into Personal Logs. You may notice that your posts are missing from PRE-DEPLOYMENT and this is because I've transferred them over to Personal Logs, so take a look there to find them again.

Thank you everybody for a fantastic month of writing and please keep it up! (And also I'd like to apologize because in my hectic business I forgot to nominate one of our posts for 22nd's Post of the Month, but we'll definitely submit one for September!)

Hey everybody I just wanted to shoot off a news item to let you all know that i'm still here and I super apologize for being AWOL on Discord and around here; I'm in the process of going to a new country (Canada to US, but as I don't have a passport or any documents it's been a hectic process), so most of my time offline has been occupied with getting things ready. Thank you all so much for your patience and I'm looking forward to diving back in within the next couple of days. I owe plot posts to a few people so I'll be getting them out, too. You guys rock and keep on keeping on!
